  1. Ok, who the protagonist is is kind of an opinion. You see, in the beginning of the book it appears as if Victor Frankenstein is the protagonist. By the time Frankenstein's creation gets to tell his story of the events, it very much appears that Victor is the one at fault. Then once Frankenstein's creation starts a murderous rampage out of revenge, then it appears as if the creation is the antagonist. So, by the end, both of them want to kill each other madly so it's nearly impossible to tell who is the bad guy and who is the good guy. But ultimately I think, though it changes and the creation's story is very pitiful and touching, that Victor is the protagonist because the creation is a murderer of innocent people and Victor maintains the role of the protagonist throughout most of the book.

As for the "round character" which I think you are referring, I think Frankenstein's creation is definitely a round character due to the intense personality and feelings that seem so realistic. As far as Victor, he isn't as realistic and with as much personality as his creation, and fits well into the mad-scientist stereotype, so he would be the flatter of the two characters though not necessarily flat.

As far as the static character, both of them change significantly, with the creation changing from benevolent to murderous, and Victor changing from intelligent and kind to depressed, no urge for knowledge, and somewhat bloodthirsty to kill Frankenstein. It seems as though Victor was the more static of the characters, as his change wasn't quite as radical as he was already on the borderline to crazy as one may put it.

And Frankenstein and his creation aren't exactly polar opposites, but I'm not too sure if I would say if there is a foil character. I'll leave that up to you to decide.

So, that's my answer. I hope I helped.
