  1. I'd really recommend reading the book. It's amazing. And after you read it, you can use sparknotes (link provided) to review.

    As far as Helmholtz goes, he's intelligent, more intelligent than anyone else. He's above them all. But that just skims the surface to his character.


  2. Helmholtz is alienated because he is more learned, he has read books, and he is not so obsessed with the material and carnal desires that everyone else succumbs to.  Good luck.

  3. Helmholtz is very intelligent. He isn't narrow-minded like his fellow dogmatic friends. He observes the world he lives in in a different light and seeks others like himself, so that he can have a "civilised" relationship with them. He's alienated because he is one of a kind and finds it hard to relate to others.
