  1. just to add to the already correct notions...

mana is produced by lands when u tap them

the only card im aware that can make u draw mana from ur lands is a power sink other than that it is your option to add mana to your mana pool (unused mana in mana pool is what burns u at he end of a phase)

lands are not mana they produce mana whn u tap them,

if an oponent plays a spell that taps your land u can respond by drawing the mana from it since its one of the fastest abilities in the game just make sure u can spend it, if u chose not to the land just gets tapped and no mana is produced.

example u have 3 swamps and u want to play wiked akuba for bb(thats short fpr 2black mana), u tap two swamps add two mana to ur mana pool and cast wicked akuba... ur mana pool empties,

diferent scenario turn 1 u have 1 swamp u pay "b" for a dark ritual (instant that adds "bbb" to your mana pool) u use two to play wicked akuba, and u have one left if u chose to end your main phase  the mana that was left becomes a mana burn of 1   (one damage) u can put the names of the cards in google if u want and u can see what im saying better

    i hope this helps

play is when u put it in game from ur hand or werever tap is what u do to draw mana.

    good luck   : P

  2. This question is all sorts of confusing. Lands do not automatically produce mana, you have to tap the land first. If you tapped three lands and then only used two mana, then you would burn, but you would not burn from playing a land card from your hand.

Mana pools empty at the end of phases, and left over mana causes mana burn.

  3. no i never even heard of mana burn.

you dont have to play any if you dont want to.

youve just got to untap them at the begining of each of your turns.

  4. no you don't.  You take mana burn at the end of each phase for unused mana in your mana pool, but if you don't tap land, you don't have mana in the pool.  Land that is in your hand is not considered mana yet.

  5. When you tap a land, it produces mana, which you spend on spells. You do not have to tap all your lands. Only leftover mana will turn into mana burn.
