In the case of an exostosis, you should avoid calcium?

Im 15 and i have a little ball above my knee which turns out to be an exostosis in my femur. My doctor sent me to buy calcium pills since im still growing. She says the problem will be fixed once im done growing. Though I read that in the case of an exostosis you should avoid calcium is that true?
