In the country of chile, what is a popluar activity? where is it done and how?is it also done in the us?

Chile is a country where you can play many sports, except Baseball and american footbal. Soccer is the most popular sport. Chile also has most of the outdoor sports: Surfing, snow skiing, fishing, rafting, wind surfing, sailing, golf,  etc. since outdoor sports are expensive they're only practiced by the rich and for that reason can't be described as "Popular".

Other popular activities I could think of are Rodeo, Fonda (also called Ramada) and Curanto. Very popular throughout the rural Chile.

Chilean Rodeo is different than American Rodeo, two horsemen (Huasos) chase a calf in the arena and have to bump the calf against a cushion wall.

Curanto is typical cuisine party of the Chiloe Island who's origin comes from Polynesia. They cook a variety of meats, vegtables & fruit underground. Since this takes long time, there's a lot of folk music and dancing going on to make the waiting shorter.

Fonda or Ramada is a folk music party with typical chilean food like the Empanada, now a days not only you dance the traditional chilean dance CUECA, but also more tropical music like the colombian Cumbia.

In the US my bet is that only on Independence day (the 18th of September) and in cities where there's a big colony of Chileans, that you could find a Ramada Party.

Football is a popular sport, its played in parks, back yards, ect.

Skiing is also popular, its done at the mountains.

Both of these are done in the U.S.
