  1. B would be close to the answer even though none of the answers are all the way right.  

    In the doldrums, when the surface winds from both hemispheres meet, which is at the equator, it causes the converging air to rise, therfore creating torrential downpours.  It is also called the ITCZ (Inter tropical convergence zone.)  The tropical rain forests are found in this region.
