  1. Stoic

  2. When I chopped my finger open with scissors earlier this week I just looked at it and laughed... I think I left the scissors in the cut for a good 10 seconds before I bothered to pull them out.

  3. I have recently lost my husband of many years. The pain is great. At times in private or with a close friend I will be emotional & express that pain. When in public or at work I am stoic. I don't want to always be stuffing feelings, it just not healthy so I must express at times. But I don't want to burden others, lose my job, & be a general basket case that is not able to function either. I suppose it has a lot to do with timing & circumstances.

  4. better how? If you deny that you are having the pain you can trick your body into believing that there is actually no pain. However if you are being punished by someone they might like to see you hurting as a sign to make them stop. OR maybe them seeing you hurting could cause them pleasure. It just depends. I have heard that many rapists get off on hearing their victims cry and plead with them. So maybe if you just fought crazily and acted like you weren't hurting from their ministrations they would give up.

  5. If it a one time pain, the reaction is always impulsive and there is an emotional outburst. For persistent pains, stoicism would be the best adaptation to fight cynicism and depression. But all of us are emotional beings, generally.

  6. In the face of pain, we should be stoical, to help the time pass more quickly. By getting emotional, we add emotional pain to the one already existing.  This is my opinion.

  7. I've never been able to show or tell of my pain to people (including closest to me).  For me, I think your personal feelings (especially yours), you don't need to share them with anyone. But I don't necessarily think that's the best way to do it.Sometimes support is the only way to get through things, it's just I'm that way.

And if you are a woman... A goold old saying says that 'Women's greatest strength and weapon is their fragility'. How many men you know that can resist women's tears or pleas for help?

  8. again...be yourself.
