  1. Billy was always visited by his mother who would treat him like he was a child. In the book he is described as looking like a child despite he was 32 (i think). His mother was very strict. He had been brought up knowing that his mother was the most important person to him. He craved her approval.

    After the party in the ward Miss Ratchet threatens to tell his mother of his s*x with the prostitute candy. He opens the Doctors draws and uses a knife to cut his throat. He would rather die than upset his mother.


  2. 'Cos nurse ratchet told him that she was going to tell his mother that he had s*x. He craved approval and his ma was a scary religious person.

    That made me so sad that i couldn't fully appreciate what happened after it.
