  1. They already do, sort of.  They use landfills for electricity by burning its contents.  But in the future, if they're safe (and legal) to excavate, I'm sure some people would go through with metal detectors, looking for gold or scrap metal that they could sell.  I'm sure, though, that most landfills by then - if they're not already - would become private property.

    But in the future, I think we will recycle 80-90% of the things we now throw away, so landfills will someday be obsolete.


  2. With the way culture wastes things like paper, plastic, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they had to do something like that.

  5. They won't be mining for paper, because it biodegrades. I wouldn't doubt if they had to remine for the metals we waste though.

  6. Yes,maybe they will find my tin of bits of coloured glass I buried when I was five.That would be a valuable find.lol
