  1. The best way is to cue high and make contact with the rail and the object ball at the same time. In other words aim the

center of the cue ball right between the rail and object ball.

To run a ball along the rail try that technique.

To bank a ball off the rail use the diamonds provided.

First find you center point  between cue ball and the pocket

you would like to call. Imagine a straight line deflecting

off of the rail to pocket the cue ball then find the point on you object ball that will follow that path. That should help.

Bank shots take practice, but are really not as difficult as people make them out to be.

Good luck and most of all have fun.

  2. You just have to ignore the rail. Aim and shoot the shot just like any other. The first answer is correct in a way, If you forget about the rail and just shoot as you would with any other shot you will contact the ball and the rail at the same time. When i shoot the shot i don't think about it that way though. I just forget about the rail and it helps me to concentrate on the spot that i want to hit the object ball on. Some players will put a little inside english on the cue ball to help keep the object ball on the rail as it goes toward the pocket. Thats okay as long as it gives you the position you want for your next shot.

  3. Like the guy above me says, and I would add a little high left, if the ball is on a right rail. or high right, if on the left rail.
