In the kentucky derby, why was big brown at the number 20 post?

arent the favorites usually at number 5 or 6? was was he at number 20!?!?! he won anyways, though.

  1. Thats a draw he wasn't lucky in it

    They draw for post positions  They just can't pick their own


  2. They draw for the ORDER of the post draw, then each trainer/owner chooses which post they want according to what is left.

    Big Brown had the 16th draw of 20 horses. He had a choice of 1, 18, 19 and 20.  He chose 20.

  3. They draw post positions by sticking there names in a bowl and thats how the postions are picked.    Luck of the draw, everytime.  So there is no arguing over nothing and to keep it always fair.

  4. Luck of the draw.  The name of the horse is pulled from one container, and the post number is pulled from another.

    Let's see if he can break the 30 year streak for the Crown.
