Charlie, awesome answer!! That's exactly what I am going to do. Right when I read BETA I started cracking up. I'll give it another year and see how everything stacks up on the DVD players. Thanks again!!!

  1. TIME. wait it out. Either way they both still provide exceptional video and audio quality. You will have proponents of both telling you what to buy. I say wait. Let everyone else spend their money. Give it another year.

I usually answer this type of question with remeber BETA. Sony's MINI disk, Super Audio CD, DVDAudio???

  2. Hi.Charlie is right.Format wars don't sell players.Technology alone is not sufficient motivation for consumers to universally adopt and acclimatise to a new format. The failure of the majority of movie studios to even support both formats is a clear indicator that history is repeating itself. Also, consumers simply aren't ready for a new high definition DVD format if it isn't spelled out  simply and delivered in a manner that isn't confusing or easily mistaken for existing formats. DVD would have to be replaced. HD DVD and Blue-ray are not being positioned as replacements to DVD,they are simply an option.
