  1. Aside from looking like it is smiling, it allows them to show off the features of the watch or clock


  2. A long time back ago, the ads for clocks and watches showed 8:20. Pop quiz, what is the time on digital clock dispays? Not 12:00.

  3. Because so the potential buyer has the chance to see the brand name clearly and also all the features that the watch or clock might have.

  4. Aesthetics...and it makes it look like the watch face is "smiling". ie the two hands look like an upturned mouth :) to appeal to people.

  5. Because 11:11 just didn't look right, whereas 10:10 fit the bill exactly.

  6. Because it looks good--symmetrical, plus there is one hand on each side of the brand name--shows it off, too.
