  1. You will be paid a private while at boot camp.  However, you will pay for all of your uniform items, haircuts, and all of the things like razors, deodorant, etc. you'll use while you're there.  I think I came out with about $1400 at the end of boot camp.

  2. All branches of the military pay you during Boot / Basic. Deployment depends on MOS / AFSC, command and where in rotation they are.

    Vet-USAF

@dded : Not in one branch do you pay for you first set of uniforms, any food except snacks, and you get money to pay for your travel to your next Duty station.

  3. The minute you get to boot camp you are on the pay roll, they deduct 400 bucks from your first check for the uniform, depends on what MOS you choose on when you get deployed. deferent MOS means diferent AIT which means defierent length in times for deployment.

  4. YES, AND YES.

  5. yes but it goes toward your uniforms and your items u by at the PX and your lat one goes toward your plane ticket home yes u do pay for your uniforms in the marine corps and yes u do pay for ur ticket home i still got the receipt and i don't know about the air force but we didn't get snacks in boot camp

  6. They do not deduct money for uniforms--at least in the Army.  I see this is a Marine but the fundamentals of clothing and allowances (maintenance included) shoud not differ.

See this for more in depth information:

You already know you get paid.  Do consider you'll lose 100-130 bucks a month for the GI BILL if you elected to take this.

You'll earn approx 1400 bucks--taxed of course as a private in the service.  See any military paychart for accurate numbers.

See this Navy Paychart--same for all services:

You can deploy as fast as you graduate from your job specialty.  Give or take whatever leave you have accrued in that time.

The military will take the most inexpensive route they can to ship you from one place to another.  Most times, planes are the most economical and quickest but other times, as in inter-state ships, they'll bus you.  Either way, they have their own travel agents to do this.

Uniforms cost up to $400.00 a year.  That money is money earned annually and will be added to his anniverary enlistment month.  His initial gear is free of course.

    Hope this helps.

  7. Yes you get paid and yes you will book a ticket home while there..How else would you get home?

And why do you assume you will go to war?

Many Marines and Marine units have yet to go to the middle east..Not every deployment is to the middle east..

Marines are currently deployed all around the globe..there is alot more then the middle east going on at all times..

Without knowing your MOS I can not say how often you will deploy..Just dont worry about it..If you want to be a Marine then you should be prepared to accept whatever they ask of you..Ifr you have demands and special request then seek work elsewhere..

  8. Of course you get paid in boot camp.  I don't know how much the uniforms cost exactly, it comes out of the paycheck and they will not pay for flights unless it is to take you to your next command.
