  1. Months.

  2. it took round 4 to 6 weeks

  3. uh oh!

you have been visiting the package store huh!

  4. Sailing ships were used for Thousands of years, but they were very important in wars from the 1500's to the 1800's.  They were also used to transport people and cargo up until the 1920's.  In the 19th century, steam ships were invented.

So....the length of time it took to travel from Ireland to America varies depending on various factors...

    1. Skill of captain & crew

    2.  Weight of cargo, ship, and passengers

    3.  Type of ship. (sail boat, steam powered, etc.)

    4.  Time of travel (summer=good weather, spring/fall=good       winds, or winter=very dangerous most boats did not sail unless the captain & crew were skilled)

My best guess would be if all conditions were in the favour of the boat 2-3 months.

  5. probably six to eight months from what i remember from famine books.
