  1. No.  They go through an officer accession program.  We used to call it "knife and fork school" based on the joke that all they taught them was which utensile to use with each course of a meal.

  2. Everyone does basic

AD: I guess for all the people who have to have the exact info I should have said: Everyone goes through some kind of BASIC military Training even officers have their version of basic.

    Vet-USAF

  3. yes, basic training was just increased to 10 weeks, then you would go on to AIT (advanced individual training) for a nurse or "combat medic" (68W) I think its 20 weeks. And just a warning, I hear the medic's are treated like c**p.

Dont let it stop you though. Basic was awesome (at least I can say that now that Im done lol)

  4. Yes.

  5. If you are going to Officer Training School there is a course that you go through, it teaches more leadership than the grunt part, just because its Officer.  If not Officer then yes, nurses don't have this separate training if not being an Officer.

  6. For the Army:

If by nurse you mean an RN with a 4 year degree, no.

They will attend the Army Nurse Corps Officer Basic Course.

If you are referring to LPN or RN with a 2 year degree you will be enlisted and have to attend basic training.

Officers do NOT attend basic training. Different mission = different training.
