  1. toilet - I think it had to do with sailing in the old days of wooden ships when sailors would relieve themsleves off the side at the head of the ship.

  2. "Head" is just a term for bathroom/toilet.

  3. I'm not sure what your context is... but I think in the Navy (and Marines?) the "head" refers to the toilet.

  4. The word head refers to when ships toilets where locate at the front over the side of the ship so that it was as far away from the nose

as could be thats why the toilet was called the head it was found in the head or front of the ship since toilet and washing facility where found together thats why today they are referredto as the head in the navy since marines travel from battle to battle  on navy ships they too

refer to the toilet as head. Well its a bit crude but thats the easiest

way to make any one understand why the words ae used has nothing

to do with sexual content or other meanings. truly its just gives the location of the facilities so you dont even have to ask every one instinctively now the port the bow the head and the aft of a ship

and whence the location is used for.best.port is easy itthe side of the ship used for landing to port. the aft is where all the garbage is

tossed over board the head of the ship is where the anchors are stowed.

got it not to be explained ever hence.navy rules no mine.

  5. the head is the bathroom in general

  6. toilet

  7. head means toilet

  8. bathroom (use of the toilet)

  9. head is a negative term used in ordinary provincial banter. Not to really be explained is the best way.
