In the movie Air Bud why did Buddy hide all of those newspapers in Josh's mom's backyard?

Was it because Buddy liked burying newspapers

or

was it because Buddy was afraid his old owner had placed a lost dog ad in the paper and didn't want Josh and his mom to take him back to his old owner if they found out about the ad?? I know Buddy hated his old owner because his old owner abused him.

well if you pay attention when he is with thte clown guy he gets beet by the news paper... so i was under the impression cuz he didnt want to get beet by them too!
