I actually haven't seen the movie, but my mom was wondering so I decided to look it up for her.

The Egg - there is a message inside the egg form the husband, he gave it to his wife to open whenever she felt the time was right.  He gave her the egg just before he went away on one of his trips and died.

I love that movie.
