If you recall, after the fellowship reaches Lothlorien where they encounter Galadriel (Cate Blanchett), they are about to leave to continue on their quest when Galadriel gives each member of the fellowship a gift:

Legolas: Bow

Pippin: Dagger

Merry: Dagger

Sam: Rope

Frodo: Light in a bottle

Aragorn: Does not give him anything, but assures his gift (necklace)

from Arwen is the best gift he could have

Boromir: Nothing

Does Galadriel not give Boromir a gift because she knows he will betray Frodo and try to take the ring for himself?

  1. From the book:

"The Lady bowed her head, and she turned then to Boromir, and to him she gave a belt of gold."

  2. He was supposed to get a gold belt but they didn't show it in the movie.

  3. whoa.. good question. i hadnt noticed that before. i'm not sure.

  4. I have no idea. Maybe it's because is was the steward's son, so she thought he's practically a king with a kingdom and won't need anything.
