  1. Madeline is ONLY pronounced (MAD ah line)

Madeleine is pronounced (MAD ah lynn)

Two different spellings, two different pronunciations.

  2. "in",  i always said it that way and always will the other way just sounds funny.

  3. mad-del-ine

  4. I think  Madeline is Mad-uh-LINE

    and Madeleine/Madelyn is Mad-uh-LYNN.

My friends daughter is named Madeline  pronounced Madelyn and people are always saying her name wrong.

To me it's like Caroline and Carolyn. Two different names.

  5. I like Made-line better than Made-lin, personally. Madelyn is kinda overused these days, and I think Madeline is prettier anyway.

    Hope I helped!!

  6. it is traditionally pronounced Lynn instead of Line.

  7. I like "in" much better.  Also, I've never seen it spelled with two "d's".  Have only seen it spelled "Madelaine."

I don't like any "-line" name pronounced with the long "i", not Caroline either.

  8. All depends where you are standing when you pronounce Maddeline, to how it is to be pronounced correctly! The northern states may say it one way, and people in the south may pronounce it another way!But I beleieve anyway you wish to pronouce it will be right! because it will be your child!I like the "lin" sound a lot better because it sounds more girly.

  9. Yes, it makes perfect sense. I like Madel"in" a little better.

  10. "in"

    It flows

  11. "in" and I love the nickname maddie

BTW - I had a student a couple years back that was Madelyn, pronounced "Maddie-lynn"
