I hear many Christian groups use the phrase 'In the name of Jesus' at the end of their prayers. Just wondering why they Jesus instead of 'Father, Son and Holy Spirit'... any reason in particular?

  1. Because, none of us go to the Father except through the son Jesus Christ. All of our blessings come though Him, and only by Him.

I hope this will make sense to you.

  2. Because Jesus taught that if we asked anything in His name the Father would grant it. John 16 v. 23. http://bible.cc/john/16-23.htm

  3. Yes, we pray in Jesus name at the end of our prayers because he said in John 14:6,

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"

We pray to the God the father and Jesus Christ is the best way to reach God the father.

    God Bless You.

  4. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6).

  5. Catholics use the sign of the cross to end their prayers..

    Protestants do not.

  6. As a catholic we are refiring to the Holy Trinity. Which is stating that God is like there people, but is really one.

Hes the Father of all of us 'In the name of the father' Hes also God of the Son, which means that Jesus is his son, And god of the Holy Sprint.

Its really hard to explain x]

  7. It can be either i think

  8. We pray in the name of Jesus because:

Joh:14:13: And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

Joh:14:14: If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Joh:15:16: Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

  9. Because Nobody comes to father except through him.  We end prayers with through our lord jesus christ or in jesus's name because it's like jesus is our bridge to the father.  Jesus is his son and a part of god and god is the holy trinity.

And jesus said when we ask for things and pray if we ask or pray in his name then he will make it happen.  Jesus didn't lie.

God= the father, the son and the holy spirit.

  10. In the name of Jesus. Jesus IS the father, the son , the holy ghost. He is just operating in 3 titles, like for example.....I am a mother, a daughter and a wife.....I am not 3 people, I am one person operating in 3 positions. Also, my name is not mother, daughter or wife. Same with Jesus. Also Peter cleared this question up in Acts.

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, 'Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'

  11. When we invoke God's authority, such as reading from the Bible, we do so in the name of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit (the Holy Three-in-One).

When we pray asking for God on our own behalf or on behalf of someone else, we pray to God the Father, in the name of (authority of) Jesus Christ, through (by means of) the Holy Spirit (which, for those appropriately baptised, gives us a communication line with God).

  12. People like to say eather one it dependes if you feel more comfortible

    saying one than the other

  13. The mystery of the Trinity is that that are 3 separate persons in ONE God. Each is, by Himself God, but there are not 3 gods. And there is no such thing as 1/3 of god. When one prays to Jesus, one prays to the second person of the Trinity as ONE God only. Each person, by mutual agreement, plays a particular role with respect to mankind. Jesus has two natures by being BOTH God and real man and is our savior. Creation is assigned to God the Father and final sanctification is assigned to the Holy Spirit. Three persons in ONE God.

  14. Yes, Jesus is our Saviour. It was he that gave up his life for us. Thus God says that anyone who asks in the name of Jesus, and believes, it MUST be done.

However it is perfectly fine to do it the other way. God doesn`t want to hear repetitive prayers. He wants to hear from your heart. He doesn`t care how you speak. He understand it. He is Multi-lingual. God is not Catholic, Baptist or Methodist or any other religion.. He just wants to hear from us..

It seems you are a bit confused..

You know you have two arms, two legs, one head, two eyes and so on. All independent things, But,  put together,  they make a whole being.

    God is the essence,

    Jesus is the face

The Holy Spirit is the voice

All separate but once joined they make the whole GOD..

  15. The Bible has people Baptized using either way.

  16. I can only answer why I conclude a prayer with that. I believe after Adam's fall, it separated man from God. Jesus was and is the bridge for man to cross back over to God.

  17. You have been very observant, in seeing this and have asked a good question...Which many people overlook, and fail to ask !

I suppose the main reason is mainly because it's quicker, but it would basically mean the same thing.

Another reason is because some of the hard core Christians, want to put the emphasis on Jesus !

  18. 1. Bible says to pray in the name of Jesus Christ. 2. Jesus IS God manifest in the flesh. He is the Father,Son, and the Holy Ghost. Those are just his titles. Like I'm a daughter, sister, and wife.

  19. You pray to the Father in the name of Jesus, or if you are worshiping you want to direct to all three, not to disrespect the the Trinity.  But when it is prayer that you need Jesus is the door, he seals the deal.

  20.   The Father's name is Jehovah, the Son's name is Jesus and the Holy Spirit is not a person but the invisible force of God. Jehovah never had a beginning, but the Bible calls Jesus the firstborn of the creation of God Rev.3:14
