  1. 100 years? Try ONE year when Obama wins and he starts kow-towing to the fanatical Muslim nations. Goodbye, America!

  2. May I ask what this has to do with Royalty? You would have a far better resonse to your question in the "politics" category.

  3. Statistically speaking, yes, an American President "as bad as Mr. Bush" or almost as bad probably happens about every generation.

As for why this question was sent to "Yahoo Royalty," haven't you heard of the Imperial Presidency (a term originally applied to the Nixon administration)?

According to a "Washington Post" article written in 2006, historians fairly consistently rate Andrew Johnson, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge, and Richard M. Nixon in the bottom tier of US Presidents.  They also conclude that George W. Bush is a leading contender to join them because his presidency combines the mistakes of all their presidencies:

---Johnson, Franklin, Pierce, and Buchannan are viewed as stubborn, narrow-minded, unwilling to listen to criticism, or to consider alternatives to disastrous mistakes.  During their time in office, they surrounded themselves with sycophants and shaped their policies to appeal to retrogressive political forces.  After being repudiated in mid-term elections, they ignored major currents of political opinion and clung to flawed policies.

---Harding and Coolidge's administrations are noted for their ties with big business and their corruption.

---Nixon is remembered for his distain for the Constitution and his abuse of presidential power.

Historians also note that Bush like James Polk launched an unprovoked attack on a foreign country, misleading Congress and the public about the cause of the war.

Now for my own political (independent) analysis:  Until things go wrong, Americans hold on to what they know and what works, which is probably why they chose George W in 2000.  They supposed that the younger Bush would be able to draw on the strengths of the advisors to President George H. W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, who after all was a much admired President.   Unfortunately, for Bush, the wrong advisors advised him.

  4. With another president like Mr Bush, the world may not see another 100 years.

  5. Let hope not.

  6. Most probably. In the last 100 years there have been some very mediocre presidents. Richard Nixon managed to salvage his reputation in his post presidency. Warren Harding usually ranks near the bottom by historians. Many of the 19th century presidents are considered complete failures.
