In the novel Sepulchre by Kate Mosse, what is Julian's last reference to 22 on page 350?

At the end of Chapter 63 Julian is giving a bunch of references to the number 22. He gets cut off on the final one:

"if you add two plus two, plus the year of his death, you end up with-"

He is talking about Sauniere and say he died on January 22, 1917. So that adds up to 1921. That doesn't look like 22 to me so just wondering what the significance was or if Mosse made a mistake.

Only thing I could come up with was 2+2+1917 = 1921 so 1+9+2+1 = 13 so 1+3 = 4 and four equals 2+2 or 22. But that seems far fetched like that Number 23 movie :P
