  1. Another reason the Phantom might of left the ring is because he (the phantom) was pretty much saying "You might as well take it, i'm not going to love anyone else".

And, in the book- when christine leaves with Raoul, the phantom dies two weeks after that of a broken heart.

Plus, he was actually 50 while christine was 20 (but back then, age didn't really matter).

  2. Raoul left the monkey box on Christine's grave because the Phantom and the Opera House were such a huge part of her life, and neither one of them ever forgot their experiences with the Phantom of the Opera. I don't think Christine regretted going with Raoul, but I'm sure she spoke of the Phantom often and wished that there was a way she could have helped him...but she helped him so much simply by kissing him.

The Phantom left the ring because he is symbolizing that his love for her never died, even after all those years. It also proves to us that he is still alive, always watching over Christine. I often wonder if that was a symbol that the Phantom left for Raoul. I wonder if after Christine died, the Phantom died with her, or soon after her. So that he would never heave to live a life without her. And the ring was his way of showing he was dead as well. But Idk. I like to make things more romantic and tragic than they really are haha.
