  1. Ever heard of Darwin Awards? People who are dumb and kill themselves by doing stupid things are the ones weeded out by natural selection (hopefully before they had a chance to reproduce).

Other than that, natural selection among the humans has basically stopped. It might take some cataclismic event to kick it up again, for example nuclear winter or complete destruction of ozone layer. In the latter case, people with dark skin will have a better chance to survive and will eventually dominate our species.

  2. Natural selection deals with competition, survival, and adaptation.  In our society we take care of everybody (well kind of) but in other countries, many refugees and the poor are starving.  They may reproduce but life expectancy is limited.

I guess we are weeding out the unfortunate.

  3. Boozers, junkies, fools with fast cars and slow reflexes. cigarette smokers, soldiers, suicide bombers, poor swimmers in deep fast rivers, obese pigs, young black dope pushers, fools who don't wear condoms and sleep around and who get aids and spread it. Also bungee jumpers who make the elastic too long.

  4. With all the advances in modern medicine, everyone lives. So  the only ones being weeded out are the people who don't breed, or breed less than their compatriots. Now I could name those who fit into that category, but I don't wanna get banned by yahoo.....

btw the proletariat will never be eliminated, capitalism would fall without the foundation of an underpaid working class.

  5. Natural selection is a process that takes place over thousands of years, not just a few generations.  So, tempting though your question may be, I don't think that any type of human being is at risk of being naturally deselected in the near future!

This won't stop me having fun when the annual Darwin Awards lists are published.......

  6. Fascinating question. Strictly speaking, only those who don't reproduce fall into that category. Very few are lost these days to birthing problems or early infancy illness. There are also very few childhood cancers. A pessimistic view would be that if society colapses, then those in the cities who are most dependent on others for food would be the first to go. Those who are weaker would succumb the the stronger. Those with greater survival experience would be able to adapt more easily. Those with better health and not dependent on modern medicine would be able to survive. But in the situation we are in only the extreme fringes are failing to reproduce.

  7. In the western world we are s******g natural selection all up. We try to save every fool that drives too fast and gets thrown out of his car when he hits a tree. We make every thing that could possibly hurt someone illegal. We feed everyone that doesn't have food and give them free medical care. We are making sure that the less fit survive. In the third world a perverted form of survival of the fittest still exists.

  8. The proletariat and with them, the petty bourgeoisie.  The old concept of natural selection no longer plays the role it once did, as far as human beings are concerned.  The small minority of people who are born with money control everything, from jobs to the governments.  They attack the proletariat constantly, often leaving these hard workers broke and without homes.  If the big bourgeoisie manages to "weed out" the proletariat, nationals will crumble because it is on the back of the working class that greatness is built, yet capitalists see nothing wrong with exploitation and with robbing these people blind.  Money is the determining factor, no longer strength, intelligence, and other qualities that are important in physical evolution.  The proletariat around the world needs to wake up and realize this is happening and fight back before the bourgeoisie can eliminate the proletariat altogether.
