In the really distant future, what would you think about changing the past?

In the really, really distant future and with very advanced technology, one might say "you can change the past". Any advantages for that?

It could be anything that one regrets doing and want to turn back time to change past events. Examples of regret could be doing the right thing, not committing wrong doing in the first place.

  1. If i could change the past with out it affection any of the future, I would say that I would have left to live in Maui.

  2. I'm assuming this is a purely theoretical question, because time travel in itself is full of so many paradoxes it boggles the mind.

The human race probably wouldn't want to change global events at all, or anything for that matter... By changing the past you change the future, and then you might have erased any chance of developing time travel in the future, in which case how did you change the past? Basically, time travel = paradox.

Once again though, if you're asking if it was all magical and whatnot and none of that happened, and if I could change anything in MY life? Without any problems what-so-ever, I might, probably not though.

  3. I think it would be a bad idea.

People go down certain paths in life for a reason.  To go back and change that could create all sorts of issues.

For example: lets assume JFK was saved by a time traveler...but since he was saved the Vietnam war was fought on our shores rather than in Vietnam.
