In the scarlet letter and other Hawthorne works...??

how is there allegory present to communicate Hawthorne's ideas? How is allegory used to illustrate the central theme? If someone could help me i would really appreciate it. im all out of ideas. Also, if someone could also find allegory in "Young Goodman Brown" and "the ministers black veil" it would help a lot!!

  1. The character's names are a perfect example of allegory:

    Pearl - so valuable that she was purchased with Hester's reputation

    Chillingworth - a man who is cold inside, vengeful - without feelings

    Dimmesdale - gradually physically wasting away - like a dimming light bulb
