In the show Malcolm in the Middle, do you consider Malcolm's parents to be generally good or generally bad?

obviously, not all sitcom parents are inherently "good" parents, as evidenced by Al and Peggy Bundy... so how about Hal and Lois?

they are trying to be good parents but their kids are so bad that the parents turn into bad parents

I think they are the funniest people ever i LOVE hal because he is so funny and gets really paraniod and i LOVE lois because she is exactly like my mum (the yelling bit and bossing around)

so i think they are generally good

but i could never say anything bad about that show i love it to much it is exactly what my family is like :) ♥

Actually... Hal and Lois are good at heart and do their best.  Kinda remind me of a dumb-version of my folks.

NOTHING wrong with chewing out your kids, and motivating them with fear... as long as they know where YOU are coming from.

They intend to be good parents, but that intent is not always matched by the execution.

Hal seems to be the more nurturing of the two, but he's not always grounded in reality. Lois' hard-line tactics are redeemed only by thye fact that she is shon to be always right.

I think that the parents are generally good. They do their best to provide for their kids and get them things that they NEED, and don't spoil them with things that they want. Also, they make their kids responsible for their own actions and aren't always bailing them out and giving them more chances. Hal is fairly clueless when it comes to a lot of things, but Lois takes charge of him and the kids and runs the family really well. Finally, you can tell they actually do love their kids, but it would be nice if they showed it more.

They're okay, funny in my opinion, all of the characters have flaws and good traits...I just wished the show wasn't cancelled.
