parents of the little one. What if the birthmother doesn't sign off on her parental rights but you still have the baby at our home. Once the 7 days are up, is that it for the birthmother? Does that mean that she has made a decision by not making a decision. If that makes any sense!

  1. It sounds like the birth mother hasn't made up her mind and can come and get the baby if she decides she really wants him or could be deciding how to scam you out of money for the baby by letting you get attached, don't ask me how I know but I have meant people that use babies as a place to stay and food to eat. These people don't deserve to have children treating them this way.

  2. My understanding is that the birthmother has seven days from the birth of the baby to contest the adoption. If the time passes and she does nothing, her parental rights are revoked and the adoption becomes final. However, your lawyer will know the exact details.

  3. Actually, in Arizona the minimum waiting period fo ra woman to sign papers consenting to adoption is 72 hours (3 days) after her baby is born. This is simply the soonest it can be done, and she has every right to wait longer to make her final decision. In AZ once the papers are signed, the consent is irrevocable, meaning she can not change her mind.

If the parents planning to adopt the child take the baby home from the hospital, and after 72 hours the mother has not given consent, then yes, she is still able to decide to parent the child, and regain custody at any point until she decides to sign. This is why many people suggest that the child be cared for by temporary foster parents (cradle care), until the final decision has been made.

  4. Did you know that you can buy a lawn mower at Home Depot, and have 90 days to change your mind?  Or a shirt at Target?

And that doctors recommend that women who give birth wait 6 weeks to drive or have s*x?

Doesn't that seem strange that a MOTHER only has 7 days to change her mind?

    Disgusting, really.

And you're chomping at the bit...
