  1. yes you have to have insurance eif you live in texas

  2. Not likely, there insurance is likely not gonna pay you a dime for illegally driving.  EVERY state requires atleast some insurance and to not have it means even if it wasn't your fault for the accident, you weren't supposed to be on the road in the first place so they're not gonna foot the bill

  3. Not only is it a must to have car insurance in TX you must also have proof of insurance.

  4. If your own insurance has lapse, then they will NOT help you.

But if the fault was not yours, then you can still get paid for damages and physical therapy, etc. - you just have to figure out what insurance company buttons to press.

It is best for you to get a lawyer.

    Good Luck...

  5. If it was the other guys insurance that was "off", then you can use your own insurance to pay the bills.  If it was YOUR insurance that was "off", then the others insurance should pay but you will be cited for having no insurance since auto insurance is required in Texas

  6. yes you must have proof of insurance

  7. no car insurance you are done. its sad that you would say this but you are required by law to have liability insurance you can't buy license with out insurance vise versa here.

  8. Assuming the other party is at-fault their company will pay your legit claims even though you didn't have insurance. They will pay the car damages first. They will NOT pay your medical bills up front, as they become due. They only have to include them as part of the entire settlement (along with lost wages & pain and suffering) once you are done treating and ready to settle.

So, since you don't have insurance of your own to pay your medical bills you will have to pay for them yourself and then get reimbursed when you settle your claim.

If the state of Texas finds out you had no insurance you will get some hefty fines and possibly have your drivers license revoked for awhile.

While I'm at it, I would like to clarify that not all states require car insurance. WI and NH are two that I know of. All states should require car insurance but they don't.

    Good Luck
