In the state of Texas can a felon own a black powder gun

I am a convicted felon and i would like to be able to go hunting so i can feed my family ya know times are hard and all and i just wanted to know legally if i could hunt with a black powder rifle on my own property.

  1. Of course a felon can legally purchase, possess and hunt with a black powder, percussion weapon  in Texas. Such weapons are explicitly defined by state law as not firearms and exempt from the restrictions on prohibited persons. In effect, Texas law holds black powder weapons in the same light as does the GCA of 1968 -- they are not guns.

    Forums like this are not the place to ask such questions as those who know nothing are fast to answer all.
