  1. At the present time, the answer is "no". Pending legislation has been proposed to make this type of program available, so long as the student entered active duty from the State of Florida, and received either the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service medal, the Iraqi Campaign medal or the Afghanistan Campaign medal. Other pending legislation would forgive educational loans that were awarded prior to the receipt of various qualifying action badges and ribbons.

In the meantime, you should review the updates to the GI Bill for the 21st Century, just signed into law this past month. The new benefit covers full tuition and fees up to the cost of the highest in-state tuition for a public university, plus up to $1000 a year for books and equipment and a monthly payment equal to the local basic allowance for housing for an E-5 with dependents (approx. $1100 a month). The $1200 enrollment fee has also been discontinued.

I hope that helped. Good luck!
