  1. How old are you now? In most states, the police won't make much of an effort to locate you if you're over 16 (unless your folks are rich and influential). Regardless, if you make it to 18, they won't do anything to you.

But, I, too, was a runaway from age 13 to age 17 (and yes, from Kentucky) . . . if you think that life sucks now, it REALLY sucks on the road. You are almost always on the run, are easy prey for perverts and crooks, have NO legal rights to speak of (you're still a minor, regardless), most places won't hire you (and those that do don't have to pay you . . . what are you going to do?). You end up sleeping (at best) on someone's couch or (at worst) in jail with not-so-nice people.

Are you being abused? If so, contact the county DCBS (Department for Community-Based Services) office. If you're not being abused, DCBS may also have people available to help you work things out at home.

If things really are unbearable at home, and you are over 16 and capable of supporting yourself, you might be able to get a judge to declare you an "emancipated minor" (good luck!). But your best bet is to stay where you are and work it out. If you run now, you'll be running away from life's problems for a long time. That's a habit that it's best NOT to get into, because it's hard to get out of.
