  1. In your neighboring state to the south, it was ruled that minor errors will not be grounds for a ticket's dismissal.

  2. Mistakes on the ticket can be used in court to discredit the officers ability to remember the incident, but are not grounds for automatic dismissal.

  3. I wouldn't count on it, but I have seen judges who are real sticklers over things like this. However the odds that a simple mistake like that will make any difference are quite small.

  4. Yes.

Murderers and pedophiles are set free everyday because of technical errors that get their cases thrown out or dismissed outright.

  5. Well, it is a real stretch, but he could argue that it was not him. However, if he signed the ticket then he can't say that it wasn't him. Other than that, the courts will consider the situation minor

  6. The ticket can be amended to correct errors.

If your father did not run the red light, I recommend that he start interviewing attorneys who specialize in the defense of traffic tickets.

He should select attorneys who have extensive experience at trial and more importantly the attorneys must have successful experience at trial.

I recommend that your father hire the attorney who he feels is the most supportive of his case and also has extensive and successful ecperience at trial.

If your father did not run that red light, if he fights that ticket in court and is represented by a competent attorney, he will win.

  7. Depends on the Judge.  In your case it looks like you will have to pay the ticket because the mistake made really has nothing to do with the actuall law breaking event that is in question.
