  1. They are ways of interpreting numerical data.  Mean, median and mode are types of averages.  Range is the range of data, the difference from smallest to largest.

Mean - when you add up all of the data items and divide by the number of items

Median - the middle amount, when the data are placed in order

Mode - the most frequently occurring data item

  2. Well, if what you are asking is to explain what Mean, Median, Mode, and Range are, I can explain that to you.

The Mean is the sum of all the numbers added up, divided by how many numbers there are.

The Median is the middle number when the set of numbers in arranged from least to greatest.

The Mode is the number that appears the most in the set of numbers.

Finally, the range is the greatest number minus the least number.

    Hope I helped you. :)

  3. Say you have: 1,2,3,2,4,5,5,6

Your MEAN will be (1+2+3+2+4+5+5+6)/8 (8 is the amount of numbers), that mean 28/8 = 3.5

MODE is the highest amount of number with the same value, in your case that would be 2 and 5 because they appear twice. this sample is bidmodal (cause of two numbers)

In order to get the MEDIAN you have to sort your sample:

1,2,2,3,4,5,5,6 . you got eight numbers. now, you take the number(s) in the middle which would be 2 and 3 (because this sample is even, odd samples have only one middle number) anyway, take 2+3 and divide it by 2 and you'll get 2.5.

Your RANGE in this case means "from low to high" so your sample ranges from 1 till 6.

I hope I could help you

  4. if you have a set of data, lets say

    3,6,2,8,4,2, and 9

the mean is average of the data.

to find the mean, you add all of the data together, then divide the answer by the # of data you have.

for this set, you would add 3+6+2+8+4+2+9=34

then you would divide by 7 because there are 7 numbers in the data set.

34/7=4.86 ( i rounded to the nearest hundredth because it was a longgg decimal point) so 4.86 is your mean

the mode is the most frequent number.

you just look to see which number appears the most in your data set.

in this case, it would be 2, because every other number only appears once, while 2 appears twice. so 2 is your mode

The median is the middle number. so you put your numbers in numerical order (smallest to largest)

    2,2,3,4,6,8,9 in this case.

then you see which number is in the middle. here, the number 4 is in the middle. so 4 is your median

the range is the largest number- the smallest number

in this case it would be 9-2=7 so 7 is your range.

    Good luck!

  5. Mode: The number that appears the most in a set

e.g. {1,2,3,4,4,4,4,4,4,5} the mode is 4 because it appears the  most.

Median: The number in the middle given that the numbers in the set are arranged in order

e.g {1,2,3,4,5} the median is 3, because it is in the middle of the 5 ordered numbers. Note, if there is an even number of data points, you would take the sum of the two middle numbers and then divide by 2.

    e.g. {1,2,3,4,5,6} the median is (3+4)/2 = 3.5

Mean: The average or the sum of all the data points divided by the number of data points.

    e.g. {1,2,3,4,5} the mean is (1+2+3+4+5)/5 = 3

Range: The difference between the highest and lowest value

    e.g {1,2,3,4,5} the range is 5 - 1 = 4

    Hope that helps.

  6. if i remember correctly they are the

    Middle

    Top

    The answers and

Putting the#s in order from biggest to smallest

                          or smallest to biggest

  7. remember to first arrange all the numbers in the set in numerical order, then the middle number, or the mean of the middle two, is the median

  8. mode- number that appears most

median-number that is in the middle, or if there are an even amount of numbers, add the two middle numbers and divide

mean- the average of the numbers

range-is the diffrence between the greatest number and lowest number.

    hope i helped
