In the theory of evolution, what cause brings about spirit? ?

Since life is to have come from an accidental "big bang", and then accidentally create dna...

How does physical dna create that which is spiritually existing, as in the evidence for love and hate or the knowledge of good and evil (to keep it simple), which are obvious parts of our existence, since it cannot simply come out of nowhere from that which exists physically.

  1. You fail.

This is not evolution. Though it is related.

  2. Evolution and spirit just repel each other.

Evolution is based on scientific theories. The spirit is from the spiritual or religious side of the argument.

The theory of evolution is based on scientific calculations and conclusions, it is not a a concrete proof that is why its called 'theory' its the closest probable explanation that we can make basing on physical attributes.

The soul is what makes us know what is right and wrong, it is what makes us have conscience and act accordingly.

I don't have anything against science, in fact I'm fascinated by it but we all can't just base everything on it.

It's like saying we came from monkeys, if we did then why are there still monkeys? And if we did we would function purely by instinct and that is why we have a soul to know the difference between what is right and wrong and that is why we have a higher level of intelligence so we can judge accordingly.

  3. Show some actual evidence for a spirit and we'll talk. Until then your question is like...

How does the theory of evolution explain leprechauns?

Love and hate are emotions and are seated in our neurobiology. Good and evil are constructs of our society.

  4. The Big Bang, evolution and the origin of life are all separate subjects.

Evolution does not deal with the origin of life.

  5. I think you have a lot of things confused and mushed together.  The "Big Bang," was a derogatory phrase by Fred Hoyle that took from a time before it had been observationally confirmed.  A better phrase would be "the rapid expansion."  Father Lemaitre, an applied physicist, took Einstein's Theory of Relativity and looked at what it would imply to test it.  There were two possibilities, as steady state universe that was eternal, and an expansive universe.  There is also the possibility of endless expansions and contractions.  Einstein and Hoyle believed the steady state hypothesis.  Indeed, when Einstein looked at Lemaitre's model, he said that the math was impeccable, but it applied to some other universe.  Over time, as people began testing the various hypothesis, the steady state version collapsed for lack of data and the "Big Bang" was confirmed time after time.  I think Father Lemaitre did not win the Nobel prize only because he was a priest.

One consequence of the Big Bang that was not understood at the time was that no information could pass from before the expansion because it occurred in a singularity which had maximal entropy for its size.  Even if there were a god and that god did start the universe, no information on any plan could pass the point where the universe began.  In other words, even if there was a desire for a divine plan, it would have been lost in the singularity.

Further, the conservation laws in physics say that if there is a god that god must already be inside the universe because it takes energy/matter to cause changes in the universe.  If god has mass, then death is certain.  If god is energy, then entropy will require the energy to disperse into nothingness.

You are confusing evolution with abiogenesis.  Abiogenesis is the formation of life where none exists.  There are a variety of hypothesis as to how it happened.  It will be impossible to determine which hypothesis really happened, but there are ways to test which ones are possible.  Life from non-life is quite credible.  It would not have been an "accident," so much as unpredictable and unplanned.

As to evolution and the "spirit," science does not concern itself with philosophical or religious constructions.

As to love, hate and so forth, they are not unique to humans.  Indeed, biological theories of emotion are very old now and well tested.  Further, economics, psychology and biology have studied the idea of 'good and evil.'  They do not require any gods at all.  It doesn't come out of nowhere, it comes out of how our species and other species have evolved.  Emotions are part of the energy minimizing path to survival.  Rationality probably arose to manage the emotions.

I will link you to one biological theory of emotions that would be usable to a lay person.  http://www.reversaltheory.org/

  6. Spirit + evolution = fail

  7. Fail

  8. "Spirit" is a man-made myth...created to make ourselves feel superior.

  9. the theory of evolution has nothing to do with the supernatural

the theory of evolution has nothing to do with the big bang nor the origin of life

First you have to prove that there is such a thing as a spirit.

  10. I think in the evolutionary theory, as it stands now, spiritual factors are not considered. Science deals with what can be readily tested. So it restricts itself almost entirely to material matters. Men like Dawkins going on and saying that the material is all there is, is however a logical error, rather like someone with binoculars claiming things beyond the range of his optical aid don't exist.

From the christian view, we can posit that God can at any stage adjust evolution in ways that can never be tested, since all the variations come from seemingly random change, and God can do it, if He wanted, and leave random change as the default state-of-affairs. No one can go back in time and observe such a change, and see God's hand make the change !

As regards spirit, we christians know we have spirits, and encounter the Holy Spirit, who is without body but very real.

I would hypothesise that God 'inspirited' humans at some stage; before that we were entirely animal flesh creatures.

  11. There is nothing supernatural about evolution.

  12. well you see DNA tells the cell to create proteins, the proteins go off and are used in brain activity, the brain activity creates an imagination, an imagination creates the idea that humans have spirits.

  13. Love and hate and emotion is not spiritually existing.  Its all chemicals in the brain.  Its all part of genetics, taken to a further degree.  Love stems from the desire to procreate, hate is territorial instinct, fear is ... well, FEAR.  If it was nothing but spiritual, how could there be drugs that change how you feel?  Anti-depression drugs and whatnot.
