In the world, are there more men than women?

Well, more male children are BORN than female children, but by age 18 - 20, more male children have died off than females leaving more females than males.

The answer is that the population is relatively equal between males to females. Any person who states that there are more females than males in the world have probably got less than two brain cells to begin with (like the answerer above me to make an example). If we further narrow what we are talking about, from planet to continents/nations, then the answer varies. In nations such as China, the disparity between males to females is rather large. In Western Europe, females outnumber males only just slightly. On a global scale, the ratio between males to females is pretty equal.

There a huge amount of reasons as to why some places in the world have more females/males to the other s*x. In China as well as in many other parts of the world, having a boy is critical. That therefore means that traditional values have some influence on the global population. Other places where females only just outnumber males are more likely due to the fact that these places have some form of biological influence that makes it swing towards Nature's choice of producing females (I'm not a Biologist so I couldn't go into the realms of that).

From a biological perspective yes, there should be 51% men and 49% women by births to account for the fact that before human development the men went hunting and were more likely to die so this countered the imbalance caused by the male being more likely to get killed.
