I think I'd bet on Mosconi.  Willie was a 15 time BCA World Champion.  Minnesota Fats never won a major pool tournament.

Willie Mosconi and Fats were nearly the same age and they played each other on several occasions throughout their lives and Mosconi absolutely destroyed Fats every time, regardless of the game being played.  Mosconi was a true champion and arguably the best to ever hold a pool cue.  Fats was a fairly decent hustler with a flair for the dramatic, not in the same league as Mosconi.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee

I'd take Fats but either of these boys could take either any day of the century.

I would definitely take willie. He was a much better player , by far. Not to take anything away from the Fatman, he was a very good player in his own right. As straight shooter said , they did play each other on several occasions, wide world of sports back in the seventies comes to mind , and Willie beat him soundly every time. I look at Fatts kinda like the harlem globetrotters of basketball, great players and great ambassadors to the game but more for the entertainment value than the serious tournament type player.
