Yeah, I was clowning. I just have not been around that much with 14 hour work days. I have a best answer picked already.

I was joking around.

  1. It could have been the Ward-Gatti of the big men; sadly, it it never to be, (sigh....)

  2. I had to look twice to make sure I was reading the topic correctly. This mismatch would be just like a Dodge Viper racing against a Dodge Neon. Of course Ali would be the Viper and Ruiz would be the Neon. In a 15 round fight, I could see Ruiz's corner calling it quits after 11 or 12 rounds.

  3. ha ha ha ha ha......(wait,you are not kidding are you?) ha ha ha ha, Ali would beat john ruiz right into next week this one's not even close, Ruiz was just an annoying clincher with sub par skills, in his prime Ali would have been too fast for him,too elusive.....Imagine what Jones did to Ruiz, but just with a bigger and sronger guy....Ruiz would be beat up so bad at the end of the fight that he would probably give upboxing pick up  ballet dancing.

  4. Ric, in my opinion this would be a great mismatch.  Ruiz is just not fast or skilled enough to have much of a chance against arguably the greatest heavyweight champion of all time.  I believe that Ali would almost be able to hit Ruiz at will without too much in return from Ruiz.  He would move with his great footwork effortlessly around the ring and sting Ruiz with his jab.  In about the 8th round, Ali would batter Ruiz with blistering combinations and would force tthe referee to intervene and halt the contest.

  5. Possibly the biggest mismatch between Two Heavyweight Champs ever, I see Ali torturing Ruiz for 3 rounds with slick combos and fluent footwork and then getting bored in the 4th and decides to take him out. I know Ruiz dont get stopped very often but i would have to take the greatest to have a great day at the office against a fighter who i would rate as only slightly above average.

  6. Dahhh, no brainer

  7. (trying not to laugh!!)............. ruiz would be taken outta there in 6.

  8. John Ruiz would surprise Ali in the 5th round with a left hook to the jaw, making Ali jump up, hit the referee and knock him out.  This will make the fight a draw as there is no referee available and so this way Ruiz would not loose the fight.

I think it's the only way Ali doesn't win by a landslide.

  9. Wow! I have to go with John Ruiz by 1st round KO! NOT!!!!

Ali would massacre Ruiz. Look what Jones and Toney did to him and they was not even true Heavyweights. This would be so lopsided that Ruiz's corner would stop it because he would be getting embarrassed not because he was cut or hurt.

  10. Ali wins a 15 round split decision.
