In this years Wimbledon tessnis tournament, im wondering how Hawkeye works, the electronic judging system?

It just seems too good to be true. Any ideas?

  1. i think it takes a little away from the game now that they use hawkeye....but atleast the calls are fair

It uses a network of digital video cameras, which track the trajectory of the ball from every possible angle, and from that data the Hawkeye computer is able to render a virtual replay of every shot and bounce.  It's technology at its finest, not magic.  And to think they had this system for a couple years before they finally decided to use it officially in 2006.

  3. I don't think it takes anything away from the game. It just corrects some calls that could cause someone a grand slam title one day. I'm sure a call has done this in the past and this helps this from happening. Change is good sometimes. Same thing with instant replay in other sports- it's good to have but there just has to be limits and control with it. Who cares how long the sport has been without it. It's for a reason- no technology
