tonight i was walking to my car, by myself, and a big ford f-150 truck pulled over and stopped next to my car, seeing as i was walking towards it. i was by myself, noticed the car, as i was quite close, and ran. but what if it was too late? what should i do if i'm attacked. someone could of jumped out and grabbed me.. i was so terrified. he went away, but he pulled up and stared at me for a good 10 seconds.

are there any websites that reccomend self defense for situations like this for females?

  1. I took karate for 4 years, and I have to say that, though it was great for weight loss, I don't feel any more "lethal" than I was before I took karate.  And, I took the karate for self-defense purposes.  It works for Jackie Chan and Jet Li, but there's a lot more to self defense than being physical. All the things everyone here has already said are the way to go.

To those things, I would only add - being a single female, myself, who frequently has to go out to my car (after work) alone, in a dark parking lot -

When possible, see if the local security person can walk you to your car... or at least watch you to your car.

Try to walk out with another person whenever possible.  Wait longer to leave, if you have to, or leave earlier, if you can.

  2. Get a Concelaed Weapons Permit and blast that Turkey next time.

  3. In this case, the best defense is to run towards the rear of the vehicle. It is much more difficult for them to follow you in reverse, or to even see where you are going.

While walking, you should always be aware of where the nearest 24 hour business is located. That would be your safest refuge.

Cellular phones are also a good deterrent. Even a pre-paid phone with no minutes will dial 911. A potential attacker seeing you dial a phone will probably not stick around.

I'm not a big fan of physical self defense, prevention is always best. However, pepper spray, if legal, is probably the easiest to use.

As a last resort, the groin and eyes are your best target. A thumb deep in the eye socket, or any force to the groin, will stop most attackers. Digging fingernails into the face, arm, or leg will provide plenty of DNA sample to identify the attacker. I recommend the face.... seeing a guy walk down the street with a scratched face is definitely going to get an officer's attention.

  4. take a self defense course or scream nd kick him nd bite him..or get a taser idk if there legal where u live...good luck stay safe...

  5. light and people are your greatest allies in questionable situations. move past your vehicle as if it is noy yours (that way it does not become a point of referance) and go to where there are people and light. listen and take notice of anything that is distinctive, it could be helpful later. personnal defense objects should only be carried if you are trained to use them and they are allowable by law in your area.

be safe, be aware, be alive.

  6. YOU DONOT NEED SELF DEFENSE online self taught step by step procedure in similar situation. REMEMBER EVERY CASE is different from one another, WHAT YOU NEED IS COMMON SENSE not self defense. What is the use of self defense if the other person is going to shoot you? Let say you are a KARATE BLACKBELTER, can you chop in two a metal bullets right in your hands? Of course not.

FIRST common sense, remember it is already night time, anything is possible in every street corner, so be alert and attentive with everyone you approach or even a sound of a broken bottle. You are going to pick up your parked car in some distance. Therefore it is natural you have to walk to get it. A hundred meters you will notice any vehicle either approaching or leaving within your range correct? This is what we call using our senses, we got 6 sense correct? It is night time so most probably only a silhouette or shadow is obvious to you. You are alone, and notice a close big ford truck approaching and got closer to where you are, the first rule is DONOT RUN or panic wait for any signal of danger, there is no danger yet but keep your distance to the vehicle if you have to stop then do it and figure things out in a matter of seconds not minutes.

This is guys are probably just scaring your wits out. So now you are just concluding what if someone...what if he got guns.. what if..what if...yes he might grabbed you so keeping still or keeping distance is one of the best way in these situation. Even if you know martial arts self defense if they are 4 to 5 guys I donot think you can all take them down, you might be down in 2 seconds. So next time, be with someone on a night like these and donot park your car so far from where you are. Keep your vehicle in a lighted side of the streets with so many people on it. Never park it in a isolated places like street corner or dark alley. UNLESS YOU ARE CATWOMAN.

  7. Please do not walk to your car by yourself at night if you don't have to. Have a friend or family member walk with you.

Also if you are parked on the side of a street and by yourself, do not go out in the street to get in the driver's door. Get in on the passenger side, lock your doors and move over to the drivers side.

I carry pepper spray which is available at any gun or sporting goods store. If you get it, read the instructions carefully and practice in your yard a couple times so you know how it sprays.

Also it does no good if you do not have it in your hand with the safety off when you walk out the door. If something happens you will not have time to get it out of your purse or pocket.

    Good luck to you
