In track cycling, what is the difference between a "Team Sprint" and "Team Pursuit"?

  1. Length is the biggest difference. The team sprint is only three laps the team pursuit is normally 4 km (16 laps).

    The sprint is all about the fastest time. Only one rider needs to finish

    The team pursuit can finish earlier if one team catches and passes the other. (hence the name pursuit). Mostly it comes back to times though. Three need to finish


  2. I believe the difference is in the team sprint there are 3 riders with a rider pulling off at the end of each lap.  In the end its only one guy and his time counts.

    In team pursuit, there can be 4 members of the team, and the time ends when the third member crosses the line.

    This is all off memory from when I used to race abit of veledrom cycling
