There are many cases of hospitals simply dumping even elderly patients onto the streets. See Sicko by Michael Moore. It's disgusting.

ambulances will come and get you. i had to go to the hospital for just a broken finger but could not afford the bill. they still treated me and set me up so i only had to pay $25.00 a month

Yes, ambulances will attend the call and transport you (if deemed necessary to go to an ER) with or without medical insurance.

I am not sure about hospitals, but believe (and hope) they can not refuse medical care. However, if you don't have insurance, you will find yourself with a hefty bill.
