  1. 30 feet - but a better answer is - it's up to you - some people stand very far from the net 35, 40, even 45 feet away - the reason is that when standing farther away, the ball seems to float more making it even more difficult to pass - if the gym is big enough you can stand as far away as you want - you can see examples at http://www.volleyrocket.com and check out the videos.

  2. 30 feet on some courts.  Some have switched to the metric measurement of 9 meters.  The net is 7'4 1/4" (2.24m) for women and almost 8' (2.43m) for men.

It is a good idea to move back even further.  Many people only stand next to the line when they are trying the short serves into areas 2,3 or 4.  (Of course, that is a big tip to the serve receive.)  You want to be comfortably back from the line.  A foot fault is just a waste.  It gives away a point without the other team even having a chance to mess up the serve receive so you can get a point.

  3. 30 feet away, try and aim at least 8 ft up

  4. 30ft and no higher then 8ft tall and that is a guys net

  5. 30 ft.
