  1. you might be talking about setting the ball, of tipping the ball, or maybe even an open handed tip

  2. its called a set, when your close to the net and hit the ball over the net with your finger tips.

  3. its a tip! not a set, if you were setting the ball, you wouldnt be hitting it!

  4. tipping.

  5. a set, or sometimes it is also called a volley.

  6. that is called setting the ball.

  7. it is called a set

  8. setting, or tipping

  9. Tip or drop shot.

  10. It depends on how, but we called it a "dink" when I played in College and Highschool, when you just try to get it over the blockers..

If it is off a block we called it a touch.

Of course a good set will be mostly or all from the fingertips as well.

  11. I'm guessing a tip

But when you tip, you don't really hit the ball, you more place the ball.

  12. when the ball is hit strait up with the finger tips it is called a set. when the finger tips are use to barely tip the ball over the net it is called a "dink"

  13. a set....

    hope that helps

  14. It depends on when you hit it.  If your catching a volley and putting it up for a spiker, its a set.   But you can hit a set shot with your fingertips and its called a tip or tap (depending on your coach).  If you do it when the other team is vollying, its a block.  So there are three meanings for it.  Need to be more specific.

  15. Setting (I suck at it)

  16. a set

    duh????

  17. SETTing

or if you were trying to hit it you missed the ball

  18. Its called "Tipping the ball" when you hit the ball with your fingertips.

  19. setting or tipping the ball

  20. the only logical explanation is setting, a set, or setting it up just depends on what you want to call it

  21. it is called fingering done by lifter for smash by attacker

  22. setting it up, or setting

  23. I see most people have said setting but that hits your hand a little so I would say it is tipping the ball.

  24. set?

  25. a set!

  26. It's called a set.If more than just your fingertips are used,it's called a carry. Then the play would be turned back to the other team.

  27. nothing. you don't "hit" with your fingertips.

    hit means to "spike"

so you don't hit with your fingertips. you hit with ur full open hand

    ((HOPEFULLY!!))

but maybe ur talking about when the ball is passed ((bumped)) to you, you get under the ball and use ur fingertips to push the ball up for the hitter?? thats called a set.

  28. well you don't exactly hit it with your fingertips but that would be a set

  29. tip, dink, push, pass, set. All depends upon the force, intent etc.

  30. setting
