In volleyball what is a DS? Could you tell me all other positions and their names too?

a ds is also known as a libero which is a defense specialist.  Who plays backrow and digs they usually wear a different color jersey and can go in and out without substituting. there is also an outside hitter a middle hitter and a opposing hitter and then you have your backrow players left and right back. hope i helped :))))) GooD LucK!!!

The DS plays the back row only.  They are a Defensive Specialist.  They are quick and good passers.  They substitute in for someone that is not as quick or not as good in passing or needs a rest.

The Libero is close to the DS in practice.  See your other question regarding all of the differences.  They also are quick and good passers.  They replace anyone in the back row.  They play most of the match.

The OH or outside hitter hits from the left side.  They are also called power hitter or left side.

The MH or middle hitter hits from the middle.

The RH (Right side hitter) or OPP (Opposite) hits from the right side.  

The S (Setter) is commonly called the quarterback of the team.  They set the ball up to the hitters.  They are supposed to make the second contact.

There are 2 DS. One behind the Outside hitter and one behind the Right side. The one behind the outside covers tips, covers the Outside (like if the OH attemps to hit and misses, the DS beind her would pick that up), and she digs the balls hit by the out side [on the other team]. The DS behind the Rightside does the same, but for the Right side.
