Is it a word used between friends (e.g., between a guy and a girl) or is it used in a more romantic context (e.g, between a guy and a girl who like each other) or is it used in both settings? Thanks!

hayete means honey but lebanese people use it left and right. it's an endearment and is just said when you want to be nice or you like and find the other person nice. trust me, not everyone that says hayete means that they are in love with you !!
