zaire no longer exists.  it is now the congo (or rather, it is once again the congo).  It is located in central africa and includes much of the drainage basin for the congo river.

The country was renamed the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1997, which had been its name before Mobutu changed it to Zaire in 1971.

Oh, BTW, Zaire (which was named by Mobutu in 1971) is now reffered to as The Democratic Republic of the Congo. (Or shall I say, is once again reffered to as the Democratic Republic of the Congo.) The name changed in 1997.
