  1. Alaska or hawai

  2. This is a very good Q. The sun appears bigger at the north and south pole in its summer time midnight. It is smallest summer time noon at the equator. This is because the morning and night sun is bigger than noon time sun as the sun is reflected through the atmosphere the closer you get to the equator.

  3. Good question. I'm not sure, at all.

But the size varies from person to person, more to than with latitude I bet.  I ask people how big the full moon appears to them.  Let's say "what object would you have to hold up at arms distance to cover it up?"   Some people say ( 4 ft diameter) - some people say a Stop Sign, a dinner plate, a saucer.

I am the most cheated person I know...  I can blot out the full moon with the tip of my pinky finger.

  4. Because the variation in distance between the earth's surface in and the sun is extremely small (a few thousand miles out of a total 93 million miles), the only factor affecting its apparent size is atmospheric distortion which varies with time of day and latitude.  The atmosphere acts as a lens and the greatest magnification is through the path with the greatest curvature.  The sun will appear smallest at noon in the tropics, and largest in the polar regions at sunrise and sunset.

  5. norway

  6. uuummmm....... i am pretty sure its the same every where

  7. The reason the Sun or Moon appears larger at some times than others has nothing to do with atmospheric curvature or lens effects caused by heat.  It is literally all in your head.  There is a perceptual phenomenon that occurs when the brain views objects with misleading cues as to distance.  The result is an illusion called "mis-applied size-constancy."  The Sun appears larger on the horizon than it does at high noon because there are no reference points to determine size by in the sky,  but when seen against a fore ground , the ocean, or a mountain range, or tall buildings the Sun is by comparison, huge.  The effect is related to the reason why a very large train appears to be moving slower than it actually is.

It stems from the way our brains process information.
